Photoshop

Choose a photo and turn it into 3 other images. The perception of the photo should be totally different for each proposal.

The aim of this exercise is to get a feel for the impact that aesthetic and semiological choices can have on the reading of an image.

For this 1st reinterpretation, I chose to focus on the face of the central character in my photo, and more specifically on her make-up, in order to turn it into an advertising poster for lipstick. To do this, I framed the young woman's face very closely, so that viewers would be directly attracted to the red lips. I didn't want anything to get in the way of reading the poster. I then played with the luminosity of the face so that the red color stood out, and darkened the woman's black hair. Next, I slightly modified the image's hue towards something rosier and fresher in order to match Dior's brand codes. 

For this second reinterpretation, I turned to the GTA game, known for its female characters often depicted in bathing suits or skimpy outfits. To achieve this, I resized the image and applied several filters to create the effect of an illustrated character. I retouched the central character and then the background, playing with density to make it less legible and highlight the central character. I then integrated a gradient yellow background to bring warmth to the overall illustration and match the game's code. 

For this third and final reinterpretation, I focused on the background of the initial photo with the banana leaves. I wanted to represent a gardening book with advice on planting and caring for a banana tree. To achieve this, I focused on the background and played with the sharpness and luminosity of the chosen area. I then created a simple clear layout by having, on one side, the zoom on the banana leaf (known for their size and beautiful green color) and on the other side, the title, including the photo in the text so as to have a majority of greenery on the cover.
